Back to Paris. The former presidential candidate of the EELV Yannick Jadot announced this Thursday to the newspaper the parisian who will be a candidate in the senatorial elections in the capital next September.
“I will be a candidate for the senatorial office in Paris,” declared the MEP, who affirmed that he had “decided to invest more in national politics by strengthening the environmental group in the Senate that fights on renewable energies, the constitutionalization of ‘abortion, and obtains victories’.
“When I see how Macron and his government deny the climate emergency, I want to put my energy into improving national policies to improve the lives of the French,” he argues.
“No Hidden Agenda”
The former presidential candidate (4.6%) would like “national policies to better integrate the problems of the Parisian territory: public transport that is in a situation of chaos, housing, the adaptation of the city to climate deregulation…” .
He claims to have no “hidden agenda” and does not want to make this position a springboard for the Paris municipal or regional ones.
Asked about the possibility of a common Nupe candidate for the 2027 presidential elections, he stressed that “the lesson of 2022 is that we will need a candidate from environmentalists and the left.” But “it is in the Senate where I want to act”, he specifies.
Absent on Thursday from the launch of the States General of Ecology by his EELV party, due to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s speech in the European Parliament, he claims to support the “courageous and essential openness approach” of the new national secretary of the Navy. Tondelier.
“Having suffered a lot during the presidential election, it is obvious that we still do not have powerful enough tools to convey our message, our mobilizations, our proposals and convince more widely,” he acknowledges.
