Another heated exchange in the National Assembly, just hours from the end of highly agitated debates on pension reform. The rebel deputy Alma Dufour mentioned the financial situation of President Yaël Braun-Pivet who did not appreciate it.
“When we know that the president of the National Assembly has stopped declaring 40,000 euros of TotalÉnergies shares in her asset statement. We ask ourselves questions anyway, ”the elected LFI, an environmental activist, launched this Friday afternoon.
In the middle of a debate about superprofits
The left seeks in the chamber to defend new sources of financing for pensions and wants to convince that the taxation of super-profits is an option. But the executive closed the door to all steps in that direction, a few days after Total Énergies revealed in early February the highest annual net profit in its history with 19,000 million euros.
The Wayward Member is based on an article in the World published on February 15 in which it is argued that the tenant of Le Perchoir “had not declared more than 40,000 euros of shares in listed companies such as TotalEnergies or BNP Paribas” before the High Authority for the Transparency of Public Life (HATVP) , according to a legal obligation for all members.
“What you just did is unacceptable”
These words made Yaël Braun-Pivet react.
“Mrs. Dufour, what you have just done is unacceptable because there was an error on the Le Monde site. They have just corrected it and the HATVP apologizes”, the president of the National Assembly first announced.
Before I add: there were no omissions in my statement. And thanks for not broadcasting that. It is shameful”.
The newspaper has updated its article that refers to the nature of his heritage. “Yaël Braun-Pivet had omitted to declare 40,000 euros of shares, and not 40,000 shares,” as previously written.
“TotalÉnergies, much of the responsibility for inflation and climate change”
These actions “consisted of the declaration of assets” of the president of the Assembly, who explains that “there is no omission,” HATVP confirmed to AFP. In his declaration of interests published by the institution we find the amount of “7241 euros” or 150 shares for TotalÉnergies.
For Alma Dufour, the situation, despite these details, does not fail to raise the question of a possible conflict of interest.
“Let’s be clear, whether the President did not declare or not is not the main issue. The issue is that she owns 40,000 euros of shares in Total Énergies, that she has a great responsibility for inflation, the crisis of SMEs and, of course, climate change. “, judged the rebel deputy about her twitter account.
“I wonder why our proposal to make record dividends contribute instead of making people work 2 more years is not very successful,” the Seine-Maritime representative-elect further joked.
