Pensions: Bruno Retailleau assures that the Senate will carry out “a true right-wing reform”

Bruno Retailleau also played “absolutely unacceptable de vouloir mettre la France à genoux”, from 7 March, estimating that the failure to “block the blocks” qui s’opposen à la réforme des retraites pour ne pas que les Français soient pris hostage.

Bruno Retailleau, president of the group Les Républicains au Sénat, responded this Sunday on RTL-Le Figaro-LCI to the statements by the Minister of Labor Olivier Dussopt that he described on Saturday in the parisian the “leftist” pension reform bill.

“We are going to substantially modify the text, we are going to make this reform a true reform of the right,” he said.

“The Senate is not a guarantee for anyone,” he also assured. “It is not us who voted for Mr Macron’s reform, it is the majority of Mr Macron who chose to vote for our reform.”

“Unacceptable to want to bring France to its knees”

The head of the LR senators, Bruno Retailleau, also considered it “absolutely unacceptable to want to bring France to its knees”, since March 7, considering that it was necessary to “block the blockers” who oppose the pension reform so that the French are taken hostage.

“It seems to me absolutely unacceptable to want to bring France to its knees,” said the Vendée senator, guest of the RTL – Le Figaro – LCI Grand Jury, on Sunday. “The economy is already on its knees: there is inflation, there is a deficit, there are collapsing public services.”

While a new day of mobilization, this time renewable, is scheduled for March 7, in energy, the strike began on Friday, and some truckers could go on strike on Sunday night.

The general secretary of the CGT Chemical Federation, Emmanuel Lépine, said he was willing to “bring the French economy to its knees” so that the Government withdraws its reform project and its flagship measure: the postponement of legal retirement from 62 to 64 years age.

“We must block the blockers.” Today, these people “have the power to take hostages”, denounced Bruno Retailleau, addressing the lack of minimum services, especially in public transport.

“We will do everything possible to get the reform approved”

The leader of the LR senators also called on the government to requisition power plants, or even to “sanction” them financially.

While the debates on the examination of the text continue in the Senate, until March 12, Bruno Retailleau denounced the strategy of “obstruction” of the left.

“We will do everything possible so that the reform can be adopted,” he assured.

A way of implicitly evoking the use of article 38 of the Senate regulations, introduced in 2015 but never used to date, which allows speeding up the closing of debates.

Although the National Assembly has not been able to go beyond article 2 of the text, due to the thousands of amendments submitted, the vast majority of La France insoumise, the head of the LR senators intends to reach the end of the text “in an atmosphere of serenity”.
