Pension reform: senators vote for an improved pension for certain mothers

The adopted proposal provides for an additional rate of 1.25% quarterly up to a maximum of 5% for women who exceed the 43 required annuities, for the purpose of maternity and child-rearing quarters.

With the government’s approval, the Senate voted unanimously Thursday in favor of an improved pension for mothers who choose to leave at legal retirement age, but have accumulated the required annuities from a year earlier.

During the examination of the government reform project, the senators approved by 280 votes in favor and 64 abstentions a proposal by Senator LR René-Paul Savary and the centrists for a pension “surcharge” of 1.25% per quarter up to 5% for women who exceed the 43 required annuities, due to the maternity and parenting quarters.
