After the divisions, unity? A guest of BFMTV-RMC this Tuesday morning, Olivier Marleix, leader of the Republican deputies, seeks to unite while his in-laws debate pension reform. The culmination of these fractures: the vote of 19 deputies of the group in favor of the motion of no confidence this Monday. Or an election contrary to the position of the party’s president, Éric Ciotti.
Many questions surround the right: Can it explode after weeks of disagreements? What is your political line? His role in Parliament?
Not being able to fully answer these questions, Olivier Marleix wishes to reassure himself for the future. The “rebel” deputies? The elected representative of Eure-et-Loir does not want to “throw the stone at them”. “I respect the beliefs of each of my colleagues,” he says. Therefore, no exclusions are expected.
“Loyalty”
“I fully understand that they do not want to assume a reform that, despite everything, was carried out by Emmanuel Macron. We are deputies from the opposition, they all exercise their mandate and vote responsibly”, insists Olivier Marleix.
After the appeasement message, however, he sets his “only limit”, evoking “people who change their minds too often, who would be a little lacking in loyalty”, while obviously refusing to give names. “I respect your choice. They considered that form also counted and that this reform had lacked too much social dialogue”, adds the fifty-year-old.
However, he ends his remarks ruefully, stating: “I’m sorry we didn’t put a united face and that it confused our voters.”
