“The vast majority of the group Les Républicains (LR) will not vote on any motion of no confidence.” This is what Éric Ciotti said on Monday at BFM Nice Côte d’Azur a few hours before the vote on these provisions.
It is clear that the president of the right-wing party was wrong. The cross-partisan motion of no confidence, signed by elected officials from the ragtag Libertés Indépendants Outre-mer Territoires (Liot) group, won 19 votes from the LR caucus. That’s almost a third of the group. With 9 votes, the government fell.
Aurélien Pradié and his “friends”, but not only
Among the “slinger” deputies, one name stands out: Aurélien Pradié. Arrived third at the last congress of LR, the deputy of Lot has taken the light in recent weeks. During the debates on the pension reform, he multiplied to crush his disagreements with the executive, despite the compromises found by Elisabeth Borne and the feathered hats of her in-laws.
To the point of paying the price for his freedom: Eric Ciotti fired him as number two at the end of February. The chosen one served as an example, but he is not alone. Around him, we find a band of thirty-somethings made up of, among others, Pierre-Henri Dumont, Raphaël Schellenberger, Ian Boucard and Maxime Minot. All voted in favor of the motion of no confidence.
Aurélien Pradié concentrated the criticism. Bruno Retailleau, to mention only the head of the LR senators, has multiplied the barely concealed offensives in the media. However, these internal disagreements are not limited to Lotois and his “friends”, as he likes to quote them. Away from.
Several relatives of Laurent Wauquiez
Among the LR deputies in favor of the motion of no confidence and against the executive’s text, there are also some free electrons like Pierre Cordier, but above all people close to Laurent Wauquiez like Fabien di Filippo and Fabrice Brun, for example.
Or, even more evocative: Isabelle Valentin, whose deputy is none other than… the current president of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region. Shameful for a party whose president, Éric Ciotti, was elected on the promise of making Laurent Wauquiez the champion of the right for the next presidential election.
The former head of the Republicans was careful not to step forward on this bill rejected by the majority of the French. He barely held it with his lips.
