PR is calling for an interim 1% increase in the civil service and the end of mandatory use of masks

The president of the republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, announced two government diplomas this Friday, one of which relates to the 1% interim increase in the civil service.

The “decree law implementing the interim salary update” of 1% “in the public administration” was approved by the government in the Council of Ministers on Thursday.

Now the “diploma promoting the interim salary update of the value of public administration salaries” was proclaimed by the head of state, as stated in the note on the Presidency website.

Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa also gave the green light to the “certificate that stipulates that the compulsory use of masks and visors to enter or stay in certain places will be stopped, in the context of the covid-19 disease pandemic”.

It is recalled that after last week’s Council of Ministers, on April 6, the Minister of the Presidency, Mariana Vieira da Silva, announced that the Decree-Law stipulating the end of the mandatory use of masks in institutions and health services, which was imposed following of the covid-19 pandemic.

At the time, the minister said that wearing a face mask is no longer mandatory in residential structures, shelters or home care for vulnerable population groups, the elderly or people with disabilities.

The same is happening in the units of the national network of continuous care, where the mandatory use of the mask still existed.

Covid-19 caused more than 26,000 deaths in Portugal, due to more than 5.5 million cases of infection.

Covid-19 is an infectious respiratory disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, a type of virus that was discovered in China three years ago and has rapidly spread around the world, taking on several variants and subvariants, some more contagious than others.
