CRANE. IL accuses government of “festival of inconsistency” over CEO firing

The president of the Liberal Initiative on Thursday accused the government of staging a “festival of inconsistency” regarding the existence of an opinion to justify the dismissal of TAP’s former CEO for cause.

“The PS communication center is no longer able to tune the ministers to the same story,” Rui Rocha said on his account on the social network Twitter, after indicating that “the government first refused to send an opinion to the Commission of Inquiry to TAP, Ana Catarina Mendes later assumed the existence of the opinion” and “now Fernando Medina claims that said opinion never existed”.

The IL leader asks “which of the ministers is lying” and “what is António Costa’s opinion on this festival of inconsistency and total disrespect for the Assembly of the Republic”.

Finance Minister Fernando Medina said on Thursday there was “no additional advice” to justify the resignation of TAP’s “chairman” and chairman of the executive committee (CEO), beyond the results of the report from the General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF).

“There is no opinion, the idea that has arisen that there would be an opinion… there is no additional opinion on what is the basis of the ground for dismissal, which is more than enough for those who read it, with regard to the opinion of the General Finance Inspectorate,” said Fernando Medina, who is heard at the Budget and Finance Committee in the context of the Stability Program (SP) 2023-2027.
