PSD respects PR conclusions and warns that Costa is responsible for instability

The General Secretary of the PSD stated that the party agrees with the President of the Republic’s reading of the political situation, respects the conclusions of the Head of State and warns that the instability will be blamed on the government.

“It is very important for the Portuguese to know that if the election calendar is expected in Portugal, that is if the elections are expected and if there is political instability, it is solely and exclusively due to the Prime Minister and the Government”accused Hugo Soares.

The secretary general of the PSD responded at the national headquarters to the statement to the country from the president of the republic, who indicated that he learned lessons from the episode of minister João Galamba, but stated that he would try to maintain political stability.

“Between the Prime Minister’s lecture and the President of the Republic’s lecture on the political situation in Portugal, the PSD has no doubts: it sees itself in the President of the Republic’s lecture,” he said.

For the secretary-general of the PSD: “a government that does not take its responsibility loses its credibility and weakens its authority and credibility”.

“At PSD, we respect the conclusions of the President of the Republic and we say that it is indeed necessary to strengthen the supervision of this government,” he defended.

IL says Marcelo and Costa are now “jointly responsible”.

The liberal initiative defended that the president of the republic “linked the evaluation of his mandate” to the coming months of the prime minister’s administration, as the two are now jointly responsible for what happens “in the near future”.

“The Prime Minister has linked his political fate to João Galamba, the President of the Republic has linked the evaluation of his mandate to the next times of the administration of António Costa,” IL President Rui Rocha defended in parliament, in reaction to the communication to the country of Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.

As of now, he continued, “both of them – President of the Republic and Prime Minister – are jointly responsible for everything that happens in the near future from the point of view of the government solution”.

The liberal leader said Portugal’s head of state found Costa’s administration “absolutely devastating” after questioning “the credibility, authority and respectability of the government’s solution”.

However, it signaled “the vision of the future presented by the President of the Republic is in complete contradiction to the devastating diagnosis and assessment he has made of the government,” disagreeing with Marcelo’s decision and considering that “the Portuguese should be given the opportunity to decide their future” and that “in a democracy there are always alternatives”.

Enough thinks PR should have had “political courage” to disband AR

Chega’s parliamentary leader believed that the president of the republic should have had the “political courage” to dissolve parliament and call elections, arguing that the government is “in tatters” and that the country needs “stability need”.

Speaking to journalists in the Assembly of the Republic, Pedro Pinto said after Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa’s statement to the country that the government is “tattered, broken to pieces” and “gives no credibility to the country”.

“Portugal needs stability, there is no doubt about that, but stability must come with elections,” he defended.

Pedro Pinto said that “it is not surprising” that the President of the Republic has not dissolved the Assembly of the Republic, but defended that Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa “should have taken that step, who should have had political courage”.
