Parliament this Wednesday passed a bill that would create psychological support responses for victims of harassment in higher education, but rejected the PAN proposal that would create sexual harassment as a crime.
Livre, which proposed to strengthen the psychological support of victims of harassment and sexual violence in higher education, saw its bill passed with votes for the PCP, Bloco de Esquerda (BE), PAN and Livre and the abstention of the other parliamentary benches .
On the other hand, the PAN initiative to sanctify the crime of sexual harassment received only favorable votes from BE, PAN and Livre, however, it earned votes against from PS, PSD, Iniciativa Liberal (IL) and PCP, and abstention from the He arrives.
Last week, parliament had already voted and rejected two bills, by Chega and by Bloco de Esquerda (BE), which provided for amendments to the Penal Code to strengthen penalties for sexual harassment and create sexual harassment as a crime.
In addition to the diplomas on harassment, two PAN initiatives related to the protection of children were voted on Wednesday. One of the initiatives, aimed at establishing the Ombudsman for Children and Future Generations, was rejected by the PS and PSD, with Chega, BE, PAN and Livre voting, and IL and PCP abstaining.
The party’s second initiative on this issue proposed to change the composition and functioning of the Commissions for the Protection of Children and Youth, and received favorable votes from BE, PAN and Livre, and abstention from PSD, Chega, IL and PCP , but ended up rejected by the PS.
The Livre bill was also rejected by parliament with a view to criminalization. PS, PSD, IL PCP and BE voted against, Chega and Livre voted in favor and PAN abstained.
On the other hand, a draft PAN resolution was adopted recommending that the government implement the Digital Services Act and promote awareness-raising and training actions to combat online hate speech and ‘cyberbullying’.
The initiative received the support of the PCP, BE, PAN and Livre and abstinence from the other banks.
