The Portuguese Miguel Oliveira (Aprilia) hopes to “classify as far forward as possible”, despite the pain that this Friday worsened after a fall during the second free practice session of the MotoGP German Grand Prix.
The Portuguese rider, who was finishing the first day of free practice of the seventh round of the Motorcycle Racing World Championship, fell during the afternoon session and once again felt severe pain in his left shoulder, which suffered a fracture last April 30, which led him to be observed at the Sachsenring circuit medical center, to rule out a possible worsening of the injury.
“Overall I was satisfied with today. I had a little accident when I lost the front end [da mota] at turn 10. I suffered a strong impact on my shoulder and felt intense pain, so I decided to go directly to the medical center to see if the injury had worsened”, explains the RNF Aprilia rider, quoted in the official statement of the malay equipment.
Miguel Oliveira ended the day with the 15th time, which will force him to compete in the first qualifying phase, on Saturday, on a track with 10 left-hand turns, precisely on the side affected by the injury.
“I am reasonably satisfied with today. It is a hard track for the left shoulder but, even so, I have managed to be competitive, which is good”, underlined the driver born in Almada.
The Portuguese knows that now he will have to go through Q1 before reaching the decisive stage of the classification, Q2, which brings together the 10 fastest in free practice and the two best in Q1.
“We are going to have to play our best card to try to qualify as far forward as possible”, concluded the Portuguese driver.
The German Grand Prix is the seventh race of the season. The Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), who was in fourth place today, leads the standings, with 131 points, 21 more than Bezzecchi, while Oliveira is 17th, with 21.
