Joaquim Chaves and Francisca Veselko won the Allianz Ribeira Grande Pro, the 4th and penultimate stage of the MEO Surf League that took place on the beach of Monte Verde, in Ribeira Grande, in São Miguel, in the Azores.
The last day of competition had the best conditions of the event and the men’s final saw the winner of the previous stage, Joaquim Chaves, face the national champion and winner of this year’s opening stage, Guilherme Ribeiro. They showed a good level, but Joaquim Chaves showed with progressive branding, which was the winning formula. The 19-year-old surfer did it to score of 13.05 points in a possible 20 scoring in the two best waves 7.00 and 6.05 points. Guilherme was in contention to the end, but he did not reverse the course of events and finished with 12.85 points.
In the women’s final, Francisca Veselko surfed her second best wave with 6.50 in the last few minutes, practically closing the door on her opponent with the to score final 13.50 points.
