First league draw. The first classic takes place in the 7th round

The Portuguese football league, which has been renamed Liga Portugal Betclic since a new sponsor, held the draw on Wednesday.

The first derby will take place on matchday seven, in Luz: Benfica-FC Porto, on the weekend of September 30 and October 1.

The national champion will receive the two main rivals in the first round of the championship, as they will also receive Sporting in the 11th round, scheduled for November 11 and 12.


In December, on the weekend of December 16 and 17, Sporting and FC Porto meet in the derby at Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon, while Benfica visits Sporting de Braga in the 14th round.

As usual, the second round of the competition is a mirror of the first half, the 31st round repeats these clashes, with the dragons receiving the lions and the eagles receiving the Minho, on the weekend of April 27 and 28, 2024.

In the second round, FC Porto and Benfica will play in the 24th round at Estádio do Dragão, in Porto, while Sporting will host Lisbon’s eternal rivals in the 28th round.

Sporting de Braga, in addition to the confrontations with the national champions, will face FC Porto on blue and white field, in the 17th round, on January 16 or 17, 2024, and at home, on the 34th and last, on May 18 or 19, 2024.

Braga will host Sporting, on matchday four, on September 2 or 3, when their Minho rivals Vitória de Guimarães visit Benfica, and they visit the Lions, in the 21st round.

The Arsenalistas will receive their eternal Minho rival Vitória de Guimarães who is scheduled for the 16th round, already in 2024, on the same day as the Porto derby between FC Porto and Boavista, in Bessa, will be played.

The first round will take place on August 13, with champions Benfica starting their title defense at Boavista’s ground.

In the opening round, scheduled for the weekend of August 12 and 13, FC Porto will visit newly promoted Moreirense in addition to the Reds’ match, Sporting Vizela will receive and Sporting de Braga will play against Famalicão at home.


The 90th edition of the main national football championship ends on May 19, after 34 rounds, in which the Reds will receive Rio Ave, the Dragons will face Braga at home and the Lions will visit Desportivo de Chaves.

Last season, Benfica were crowned champions for the 38th time and finished the I Liga with 87 points, ahead of its predecessor FC Porto, in second place, with 85, and Sporting de Braga, third, with 78, while Sporting did not go past the fourth place, with 74.
