Lucas Azevedo, a 21-year-old Brazilian player of the Associação Recreativa do Bairro da Boa Esperança, died early Monday morning as a victim of a car accident in Rio de Janeiro, which injured three others who were traveling with him in the car and who have already in the Souza Aguiar hospitals, in the center, and Getúlio Vargas, in Penha.
According to witnesses, the young futsal player had left a party in São Cristóvão and was returning to his mother’s house, in Piedade, in a TVDE vehicle.
The driver, who eventually fled towards the municipality of Manguinhos, lost control and crashed into a pole on the road towards Del Castilho.
“The moment is of great consternation and that is why we have no words,” the Castelo Branco club responded on social networks. “To the bereaved, with whom we share this deep pain, our sincere condolences. We will keep all the moments we experienced with you close to our hearts. We will never forget you, Lucas Azevedo,” he also mentions.
The Associação Recreativa do Bairro da Boa Esperança secured the advance to the second level of Portuguese futsal, with the title of champion of the IIIrd Division.
