Argentina’s Lionel Messi assured early this Monday that he was very happy to have signed for Inter Miami, of the North American Football League (MLS), and said he was in the mood to start playing.
“I am very happy that I chose this project with my family,” he said during his official presentation in front of a crowded DRV PNK stadium.
Despite the rain that fell in Miami, the fans heard a short speech from the Argentine, who assured that he wanted to help Inter Miami, who have gone 11 games without winning in the MLS.
“I’m sure great things will happen”said the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner and world champion for Argentina.
Inter Miami’s new number 10 will make his debut on July 21 against Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup, a competition between teams from the MLS and the Mexican League.
For Englishman David Beckham, owner of the club, “It’s a dream come true to welcome Lionel Messi to Inter Miami”.
In addition to Messi, the club from Miami also presented Spaniard Sergio Busquets, former teammate of the Argentinian at FC Barcelona.
“I am very excited to start training and playing,” said the Spanish international midfielder.
