Argentine Lionel Messi assured this Sunday that he was very happy to have signed for Inter Miami, of the North American Soccer League (MLS), and said he was in the mood to start playing.
“I am very happy to have chosen this project with my family,” he said, in front of a full DRV PNK Stadium, during his official presentation.
Despite the rain that was falling in Miami, the fans listened to a brief speech from the Argentine, who assured that he wants to help Inter Miami, which has gone 11 games without winning in MLS.
“I’m sure that nice things are going to happen,” said the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner and world champion with Argentina.
The new number 10 of Inter Miami will debut on July 21, against Cruz Azul, in the Leagues Cup, a competition between teams from the MLS and the Mexican League.
For the Englishman David Beckham, owner of the club, “it is a dream come true to receive Lionel Messi at Inter Miami.”
In addition to Messi, the Miami club also presented the Spanish Sergio Busquets, the Argentine’s former teammate at FC Barcelona.
“I am very excited to start training and playing,” said the Spanish international midfielder.
