Sporting records the first pre-season draw against Genk

This Wednesday, Sporting drew 1-1 with the Belgians from Genk, at the Estádio Algarve, adding the first equality in four pre-season games, in the second match of the day for the Portuguese First Division soccer team.

The lions, who beat Farense (2-1) in the morning behind closed doors, opened the scoring through Trincão, after 10 minutes, while the runners-up in the last edition of the Belgian League tied after 25 , by Alieu Faderá. , after Sporting defense error.

After testing the reinforcement Gyokeres with Paulinho in attack in the morning’s victory, at night Rúben Amorim hid the Swedish striker from the fans, renewing the eleven, without new faces and who, starting from a different system than usual, in the ‘4-4-2’, changed to ‘3-5-2’ in offensive situation, with the center back Gonçalo Inácio occupying the sixth position.

Franco Israel, Eduardo Quaresma, Coates, Gonçalo Inácio and Matheus Reis made up the defensive sector; Marcus Edwards, Morita, Pedro Gonçalves and Afonso Moreira, who played in the B team last season, played in midfield; and Trincão and Chermiti formed the attacking duo.

The new dynamic at Sporting allowed the lions to start the game with more possession of the ball, who took the lead in the 10th minute: Chermiti, taken from deep, won the duel with a defender near the bottom line and went late to the goal. Accurate shot by Trincao.

Genk reacted well and threatened the draw twice, sometimes wasted by Arokodare, with a deflected header (11), after a mistake by Matheus Reis, and Bryan Heyen (14).

In the 25th minute, Alieu Fadera restored equality, after a mistake by Matheus Reis and Franco Israel on the ball, effectively exploited by the Gambian striker.

The quality of the game declined and, until the break, Sporting only created danger once, in a sprint down the left by the youngster Afonso Moreira (18 years old) -in good shape throughout the game-, which ended with a lopsided shot ( 33).

For the second half, Rúben Amorim replaced Morita with Daniel Bragança – back after being inactive the entire last season due to injury – and Sporting started again better, coming close to 2-1 on several occasions, all because of Trincão.

The Portuguese striker wasted twice in the same move, at 55′ allowing Vandervoordt’s defense and shooting in the reload, and at 59′ providing the defense of the night to the goalkeeper of the Belgian team.

Genk, very passive during the second half, was even on the verge of victory, in the 87th minute, when Paintsil, with a strong shot, hit the Sportinguista goal, while Trincão once again missed a resounding opportunity, finishing wide when he appeared isolated before the opposing guardian (90+1).

Sporting, who had already beaten Estrela da Amadora (4-1) and Marítimo (3-0) before Wednesday’s games, returns to action with another double commitment on Tuesday, against Portimonense the same day, behind closed doors, in Lagos, and the Spanish from Real Sociedad, at the Estádio Algarve (8:30 p.m.).
