The French government will mobilize 45,000 law enforcement officers for the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, which will be held on the Seine River on July 26 next year, the Sports Minister said Thursday.
“We will be prepared,” said Amélie Oudéa-Castéra in an interview with France Info, in which she presented some figures from that ceremony and insisted that “there is no concern.”
The minister recalled that, in addition to the 100,000 paid spaces and the “several thousand” free ones available in the berths along the Seine, “several hundred thousand” of people are expected on the streets that ‘flow’ into the river .
Thus, the French government will mobilize 45,000 law enforcement officers, which represents close to a fifth of the total number of those in existence in France, he indicated.
Amélie Oudéa-Castéra revealed that giant screens will also be installed in other areas of Paris, so that those interested can watch the opening ceremony.
The minister also addressed the recurring controversy over the price of tickets, considered too high, arguing that the higher value of some tickets would allow around a million for just 25 euros.
The 2024 Paris Olympic Games will take place in the capital and other French cities between July 26 and August 11 of next year.
