The draw for matchday three of the Portuguese Cup dictated that Caldas will host Benfica, while Sporting will travel to Póvoa de Varzim and FC Porto will face Anadia. SC Braga will also face a team from League 3, in its case Felgueiras.
The rules of the draw prohibited I Liga clubs from playing each other and would play the match away from home against teams from lower divisions.
The eagles will thus play in Campo da Mata against a Caldas team that is, at the moment, runner-up in Series B of League 3.
The lions, for their part, are going to Póvoa to face a Varzim team that was relegated to Liga 3 last season and is third in group A. In the same group of the third division of Portuguese football is Anadia, opponent of FC Porto. , which ranks eighth in the table.
SC Braga will face Felgueiras on the third day of the Portuguese Cup, a team that is in sixth place in group A of the third level.
