Teresa Portela secured a place for Portugal in the K1 500 meters for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, confirmed after the reallocation of the quotas of the athletes who participated in the distance final of the Canoeing World Cup.
The Portuguese canoeist came eighth in a final in which only the top six qualified for Paris 2024, but, according to the Portuguese Olympic Committee (COP), several athletes ensured their Olympic presence in other competitions, with the International Canoeing Federation claiming a vacancy for Teresa Portela.
The K1 500 is the third boat classified for the Olympic Games, after the K1 1000, by Fernando Pimenta, and the K2 500, by João Ribeiro and Messias Baptista.
