A penalty goal scored by Ezekiel Palacios at the end of extra time earned Bayer Leverkusen a 2-2 draw at Bayern’s ground last Friday, allowing the visitors to maintain their lead in the German football championship.
The match, in the fourth round of the Bundesliga, finished second to first, both with three wins in the first three rounds.
After a spectacular match, they now have 10 points each, with Leverkusen having an advantage in the tiebreak due to the overall goal difference (8 to 7).
In the Allianz Arena, Thomas Tuchel’s men opened the scoring in the seventh minute, through a header from Englishman Harry Kane, a new addition to the attack.
Spaniard Alejandro Grimaldo, who moved to Lrverkuse from Benfica, equalized in the 24th minute with a brilliant free kick from 20 yards, putting the ball out of reach of Sven Ulreich.
