Benfica is favorite to win the Football League this season. This is what the Aximage survey reveals for TSF, JN, DN and O Jogo. Despite being in fourth place, the vast majority of those surveyed continue to believe that the Eagles will renew their championship title.
51% of those surveyed affirm that Benfica will win the championship. FC Porto appears behind with a much lower percentage. Only 22% believe that the Dragons are capable of preventing the Reds from renewing the title. 16% of people believe it is Sporting and 4% believe it is SC Braga.
Benfica also sweeps the survey when it is asked who has the best squad. The Eagles squad convinces half of the people, while FC Porto, Sporting and SC Braga share the rest of the percentage, but many people – 22% – still do not know how to answer this question.
As for the best reinforcement and player in the League, Ángel Di María is the Portuguese’s choice at the moment. The Benfica forward obtained 36% of the votes. There is a significant difference with the player who appears in second place, Viktor Gyökeres, Sporting forward, chosen by 12% of those surveyed.
This survey also gives the opinion of the Portuguese on the performance of the referees and the VAR this season in relation to the previous season. Most people believe that everything is the same, but there is a large proportion of people who believe that they are making more mistakes.
Regarding compensation time, 42% of respondents do not agree with increasing this time, while 35% are in favor. The rest have no opinion.

Opinion survey carried out by Aximage for JN/DN/TSF/O JOGO. Universe: People over 18 years of age residing in Portugal. Quota sampling, obtained from a matrix that crosses gender, age and region. The sample had 804 effective interviews: 696 online interviews and 108 telephone interviews; 380 men and 424 women; 181 between 18 and 34 years old, 210 between 35 and 49 years old, 225 between 50 and 64 years old and 188 for those 65 and over; Norte 281, Centro 177, Sul e Ilhas 123, AM Lisboa 223. Technique: Online application (CAWI) of a structured questionnaire to a panel of people who meet the predetermined quotas for people over 18 years of age; telephone interviews (CATI) from the same sub-universe questionnaire used by Aximage, filling the same quotas for people aged 50 and over and others. Field work was carried out between September 14 and 18, 2023. Response rate: 71.52%. The maximum sampling error of this study, for a 95% confidence interval, is +/- 3.5%.
