This Saturday, Casa Pia beat Rabo de Peixe, 2-0, in a match on the third day of the Portuguese Football Cup in which the ‘ganses’ were superior despite the good response of the Azoreans in the Portuguese Championship.
The decisive goals for the Lisbon team in the I Liga were scored by Serobyan (in the 28th minute) and Pablo Roberto (52nd).
The first part of the match was balanced, with the intensity of Rabo de Peixe surprising Casa Pia, who demonstrated difficulty adapting to the synthetic grass and the wind of the Azorean fishing village.
In the 22nd minute, the first scoring opportunity of the game still caused celebrations in the stadium’s packed stands, but Rafael’s header went wide of the Casa Pía goal.
Six minutes later, Casa Pia managed to score, after a long shot by Yuki found Serobyan’s precise shot.
Casa Pia came close to scoring the second goal in the 33rd minute, thanks to Clayton who, isolated, shot wide. Rabo de Peixe, for its part, never took its eyes off the opposing goal, sharing dominance of the match with its rival.
In the second half, Casa Pia managed to extend the lead in the 52nd minute, through Pablo Roberto, taking advantage of the space between the lines granted by the islanders.
Rabo de Peixe never stopped trying to threaten the opposing goal, but as time went by he lost intensity, allowing Casa Pia to dominate the match with confidence. The ‘geese’ came close to the third in the 71st minute, but Tiago Dias shot against the crossbar.
Until the end, the match dropped in intensity and Casa Pia controlled possession of the ball at will, keeping the ball away from their goal, against a Rabo de Peixe that no longer had arguments to stop the rival’s superiority.
