Rochele Nunes closes Portuguese competition in the Judo World Cup

The Olympian Rochele Nunes closes the Portuguese competition at the Judo World Cup in Tashkent this Wednesday, with the judoka of the heaviest category in women (+78 kg) to face the Czech Marketa Paulusova.

Rochele Nunes, who is competing in his sixth World Cup, the third with Portugal after naturalizing in 2019, arrives at the competition in the capital of Uzbekistan after a long break due to injury, lasting almost a year.

The judoka returned to the canvas very recently, in September in Riccione, Italy, where she finished fifth in the Open, in a stage that helped her pick up the pace, after recovering from the always difficult rupture of the cruciate ligament in her knee.

In Tashkent, Nunes debuts with Paulosova, with whom she has never fought, in a category that registers the least number of judokas in these World Championships, with only 29 and in a range in which the great favorites are the Israeli Raz Hershko and the French Romane . Dicko.

The morning qualifiers are scheduled for 11:00 local time (07:00 in Lisbon), with Rochele Nunes entering the sixth fight on tatami 1 of the Humo Arena, in a day also dedicated to +100 kg men’s and finishing the individual competition.

In the competition, which takes place since Thursday, Portugal has already had seven judokas in action, in a group in which the bronze medal of Bárbara Timo (-63 kg) stands out, while the two-time world champion Jorge Fonseca (- 100 kg) finished seventh, on Tuesday.
