The Authority for the Prevention and Combating of Violence in Sport (APCVD) announced on Thursday that it had denied 118 people access to sports venues and completed 372 cases of administrative violations in the third quarter of the year.
In the report for the third half of 2023, the APCVD indicates that between January 1 and September 30, 2023, “306 measures banning access to sports venues came into force, of which 49% were applied as a precautionary measure and 51% as a sanction accessory. upon completion of the respective processes”.
The APCVD states that 698 final sentencing decisions have been registered since January 1, that is, which has already exhausted the possibility of appeal, adding that 68 defendants with final sentencing decisions were subsequently subjected to the judicial enforcement of the fine. for non-payment thereof”.
Of the 118 bans applied in the third quarter, the APCVD clarifies that “88 fans were denied access to sports venues due to the use of pyrotechnic devices at sporting events (…), eight of which were due to the use of pyrotechnic devices at sporting events ( …). the final of the 2022/2023 Portuguese Cup, played between FC Porto and Sporting de Braga”.
Using data from the National Sports Information Point (PNID), the authority reports that “to date, approximately 370 people are denied access to sports venues, with the majority of bans applied by the APCVD, and the remainder (approximately 100) applied by judicial courts”.
In about four years, the APCVD has imposed approximately 1,300 access bans to sports venues, of which approximately 1,000 have already come into effect.
