Pepe is the oldest player to score in the Champions League

From record to record, Portuguese defender Pepe made history again this Tuesday in the Champions League. The FC Porto captain scored FC Porto’s second goal in the victory against Antwerp on matchday four of the group stage of the competition and became the oldest player to score in the Champions League.

Before this goal, the record belonged to the historic Italian striker Francesco Totti, who had scored in 2014 against CSKA Moscow at the age of 38 years and 59 days, when he represented AS Roma, the only club for which he played throughout his career.

The list also includes other players who have marked the history of world football such as Ryan Giggs (from Manchester United to Benfica at 37 years and 290 days), Filippo Inzaghi (from AC Milan to Real Madrid at 37 years and 87 days) and Javier Zanetti (from Inter Milan to Tottenham at 37 years and 72 days).
