FC Porto was eliminated from the League Cup on Wednesday after losing 3-1 to Estoril in Amoreira, and is already out of the last four despite one game less, as the Canarinhos have six points.
Don’t forget that Estoril FC had already imposed a defeat on Porto this season, after winning at Dragão in a championship match.
In Amoreira, FC Porto even scored first in the 16th minute through Francisco Conceição, but the shot was canceled due to Galeno’s offside. It didn’t take long for Estoril to respond and in the 22nd minute Cassiano beat Cláudio Ramos (in goal instead of Diogo Costa), putting the Canarinhos ahead.
Before half-time, however, Porto’s players leveled the match with a goal from Brazilian Pepê, with a shot from outside the penalty area, after a chest assist for Taremi.
The surprise came in compensation, at 90’+1, with Gitane scoring the goal that put Estoril ahead. And confirmation of victory came shortly afterwards, when João Carlos made it 3-1 from the penalty spot.
