Footballer Tommy Lockyer fell unconscious in the 58th minute of the match between Bournemouth and Luton, forcing the matchday 17 match of the Premier League to be suspended.
Doctors from both teams immediately entered the pitch to attend to the 29-year-old defender and Luton captain, immediately causing silence and concern among the crowd filling the Vitality Stadium.
Just 23 minutes after Lockyer fell on the pitch, doctors announced he was “resuscitated and responsive”, as one of Sky Sports’ commentators announced.

This was not the first time Lockyer had collapsed on the pitch, as he had already collapsed on the pitch in this year’s Championship play-off final, which decided Luton’s promotion. At that point, the player was taken to hospital after he quickly recovered and returned to the field.
This afternoon, as fans chanted the player’s name, the match was ultimately canceled and will now end on a different day.
So far, the causes of the collapse of the Luton Town footballer have not been revealed.
