Qarabag, Sporting Braga’s rival in the Europa League, reinforced its leadership of the Azerbaijani football league this Sunday after beating second-placed Zira 1-0 on matchday 18.
Brazilian Juninho, former GD Chaves and Estoril player, beat Portuguese goalkeeper Tiago Silva in the 30th minute and scored the only goal of the match.
Qarabag now has 41 points at the top of the championship, compared to 29 for Zira, the main pursuer.
Qarabag is a rival of Sporting de Braga in the play off of the Europa League.
