After the ‘bronze’ of 2019 and 2021, the 21-year-old ‘skateboarder’ entered the Arena Carioca 1 as the leader of the competition ranking and added 27.9 points, ahead of the Americans Braden Hoban, second (27.7 ), and Chris Joslin, third (27.2), in a final with eight competitors.
“This result reflects all the work I had. I managed to win this title. We always have to believe. If the mind says yes, no one can deny it. I felt so much pressure that I just wanted to relax and be comfortable. I just wanted my maneuver to work and I can’t believe I did it,” said the athlete, speaking at the end of the competition.
Gustavo Ribeiro began by joining the group of four finalists, overcoming the ‘cut’ with two scores of 9.3 and another of 9.0, which he managed to replace with a 9.3 in the last two attempts, dethroning the American Jagger Eaton in the race record. .
On the way to the ‘Super Corona’, the Portuguese athlete dominated the third and penultimate stage, in Las Vegas, United States, on the weekend of October 8 and 9, after having closed the podium in the pass through Jacksonville, followed by a seventh place in Seattle.
The Brazilian Rayssa Leal, Olympic runner-up in Tokyo 2020 in the ‘street’ aspect, also confirmed her status as leader of the women’s ranking, by surpassing with a performance of 21.1, to succeed her compatriot and two-time champion Pâmela Rosa.
