Entrepreneur Pedro Pinho was sentenced on Tuesday to two years in prison for assaulting a TVI image reporter after a match between Moreirense and FC Porto on April 27 last year, CNN Portugal reports.
The aggressor, who was accompanying Porto president Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa at the time, was punished for a public crime as the journalist was on duty at the time of the incident.
The businessman will also have to compensate the image reporter.
Pedro Pinho was even suspended for four months by the Portuguese Football Federation’s Disciplinary Board, a decision that has since been overturned by the Sport Arbitration Court, which understood that the businessman was not registered as a sports agent, which prevented sports entities from punishing him.
At the end of that match, coach Sérgio Conceição was suspended for 21 days due to protests with the match referee and also had to pay a fine of 10,200 euros.
