Former Dutch footballer Ronald de Boer said on Thursday Brazil is the “clear favourite” to win the title at the 2022 World Cup and become world champions for a sixth time, even ahead of a final against Portugal.
De Boer, 52, noticed that “something happens to the mentality of Brazilian players when they wear the yellow jersey” and represent their country, which the former Ajax, FC Barcelona and Glasgow Rangers midfielder believes makes Brazil the best candidate to lift the trophy.
The former player thinks the Netherlands will reach the semi-finals, where they will be eliminated by Brazil, while France will see the defense of the title won at the 2018 World Cup end against Portugal, at the same stage of the competition.
Portugal is part of Group H of the 2022 World Cup, which will be played in Qatar between November 20 and December 18, along with Ghana, Uruguay and South Korea, while Brazil, record holder of titles, was drawn five in Group G, in which they compete against Serbia, Switzerland and Cameroon.
