For him, there is great difficulty for foreigners who choose the Qatar championship for a career: “I arrived in June and the temperature was 50 degrees. We played at night in air-conditioned stadiums and there was no problem, but we trained.” in the afternoon and it was not easy to get used to. I felt that my body was boiling”, comments the player.
In Qatar there are two clubs that stand out, Al-Rayyn and Al Sadd. João Carlos Teixeira plays for Umm-Salal, a mid-table team. club in which “there are only five professional players. The rest are all local players. Some have other jobs. La Liga is not so easy. They work like in Europe”, explains the Portuguese midfielder.
João Carlos Teixeira has lived since the summer with his family in Qatar, in one of the most luxurious areas of the country in the Middle East. The footballer considers that the criticisms and warnings that have been made in relation to the country are exaggerated: “The almost scary message that comes from Qatar is completely wrong. People live very well here, the people are very friendly. It is the safest country “. in the world. Of course they have their culture, they are very religious, but we have to respect it. People travel to Dubai a lot and Qatar is not much different from Dubai.”
