The Portuguese surfer Frederico Morais qualified this Thursday for the quarterfinals of the last ‘Challenger Series’ of the World Surfing League (WSL), which takes place in Haleiwa, Hawaii, while Vasco Ribeiro was out.

In the third round of the quarterfinals, Frederico Morais will face the Japanese Kanoa Igarashi, the Australian Morgan Cibilic and the French Kauli Vaast.

Before, Vasco Ribeiro had been eliminated, finishing third in the second ‘heat’, with 13.04 points (8.77 and 4.27), behind the Australian Ethan Ewing, with 17.27 (9.50 and 7, 77), and the Italian Jesse Mendes, with 13.83 (8.00). and 5.83), while the Hawaiian Ezekiel Lau was last, with 11.50 (6.50 and 5.00).

Teresa Bonvalot, who qualified for the quarterfinals, continues to compete, maintaining her aspirations of entering the main WSL circuit in 2023.

In the fight for access to the semifinals, the Portuguese Olympian will face the Hawaiians Bettylou Sakura Johnson and Zoe McDougall and the Australian India Robinson.

The waiting period for the Haleiwa Challenger, the last leg of the ‘Challenger Series’, qualifying for the main circuit of the WSL, extends until December 7 on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, United States.
