Portugal had 12 players in the ‘hangover’ of the first defeat

On Saturday, Portugal began preparations for the round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup, with Switzerland, in a session that saw the starters against South Korea and the injured trio absent.

In Al-Shahaniya training center, coach Fernando Santos had only 12 players, that is, everyone who started on the reserve bench in the game that led to the defeat against the South Koreans 2-1 on Friday.

The holders of that match did not take to the field in the 15-minute session open to journalists because they had been doing recovery work in the gym, as is Otávio, who is in the final stages of recovery from the injury he suffered against Ghana.

Danilo Pereira and Nuno Mendes were treated for their respective injuries and were also absent from the field, and the Paris Saint-Germain winger will not be participating again in this World Cup, as already announced.

Portugal will take on Switzerland in the round of 16 of the World Cup, in a match scheduled for Tuesday, starting at 10 p.m. local time (7 p.m. in Lisbon), in Lusail.

On Friday, the ‘quinas’ team lost 2-1 to South Korea, in the last meeting of Group H, but kept first place, with six points, while the Asians secured second place, with four, also progressing to the next stage, where they will meet Brazil.
