Portugal begins to prepare for the quarterfinal duel with Morocco

The Portuguese soccer team starts this Wednesday to prepare for the World Cup quarterfinal duel with Morocco, in a session that should be limited to the substitutes in the match with Switzerland.

The day after the defeat of the Swiss (6-1), in the ‘eighth’, Portugal has scheduled a training session at 12:00 local time (09:00 in Lisbon), at the Al-Shahaniya training center , with the first 15 minutes open to journalists, without any player’s statements being expected.

As has happened in the days after the game, the starters in the game against the Swiss will have to limit themselves to doing recovery work in the gym, with the exception of Nuno Mendes and Danilo Pereira, who are cured of their respective injuries.

In this way, coach Fernando Santos is expected to have 13 athletes in training, that is, the eight who did not start against Switzerland and the five who were launched from the substitute bench, among which captain Cristiano Ronaldo stands out.

On Tuesday, Portugal secured qualification for the quarterfinals of the 2022 World Cup, beating Switzerland 6-1, with three goals from Gonçalo Ramos, one from Pepe, one from Raphaël Guerreiro and another from Rafael Leão, while Akanji reduced the helvetians .

In the ‘quarters’, the ‘quinas’ team will face Morocco, which eliminated Spain, in a match scheduled for Saturday, starting at 6:00 p.m. local time (3:00 p.m. in Lisbon), at the Al-Thumama stadium, from Doha.
