Martinez was another hero with gloves. Argentina knocks out the Netherlands on penalties

Argentina beat the Netherlands, this Friday, 3-4 on penalties (2-2 in regulation time), and advances to the 2022 World Cup. In the semifinals of the competition, the Argentines will play against Croatia, which they previously eliminated to Brazil, also on penalties.

Nahuel Molina opened the scoring, in minute 35, after a guided assist from Lionel Messi. After serving his teammate, the Argentine number 10 increased the score in the 73rd minute, from a penalty, and made it 0-2. Wout Weghorst came on at 78′ and, five minutes later, scored to make it 1-2 and, at the last breath of regulation time, the Dutch striker scored twice from a free-kick that promises to go down in history.

After a goalless extra time, the match would have to be decided on penalties. Emiliano Martínez was the hero when saving the penalties of the Dutch Van Dijk and Berghuis and, even with the shot missed by Enzo Fernández, the Argentines won the decision by the shot from eleven meters.
