Gianluca Vialli died. The former Italian footballer and coach was 58 years old and was battling pancreatic cancer. The news of Vialli’s death has already been confirmed by the Italian Football Federation this Friday.
The former soccer player and former head of delegation of the Italian team had already announced, on December 14, the suspension of functions, due to cancer treatment.
“At the end of a long and difficult ‘negotiation’ with my wonderful team of oncologists, I decided to suspend, hopefully temporarily, my present and future professional commitments,” Gianluca Vialli said then.
The former Italian international had been battling pancreatic cancer since 2018, and his health improved in 2020. However, the cancer returned last year.
