Lisbon derby to try to break attendance record in women’s football

The eagles player believes that this duel will put two teams without pragmatism on the pitch of the Estádio da Luz. “We are not going to wait, the two teams are going to look for victory, each one with their weapons and strategies. We are going to score a goal to always be on top of the game, so we are all going to look for the victory”.

In addition to the rivalry between Sporting and Benfica, this Saturday’s derby has another curiosity: it will try to break the attendance record in an official women’s football match.

The maximum reached so far was 14,221 spectators, last May, also at the Estádio da Luz with the Benfica-Sporting match for the championship.

In this interview to TSF, Pauleta reveals that playing with more audiences helps to improve the show. “It has an important role, that is the reality. This is a ‘match the match’ game, we are lucky to play it at home with our club supporting us and that’s why they played the game at Estádio da Luz”.

“We are going to have the support of our fans, as we deserve it, there is going to be a good house and that is going to help us”, adds the player of the eagles.

Pauleta takes stock of Benfica’s season and considers that in recent months the reds have been able to “improve certain aspects that the team needs and that the coach requests. We have been fulfilling that”.

In this interview to TSFPauleta recognizes that “the experience in the Champions League allowed the team to grow a lot physically, but also mentally. Now on the field we are more intelligent in the game and in time management”.

The women’s Portuguese Cup quarterfinal match is scheduled for this Saturday, at Estádio da Luz, at 3:00 p.m. Benfica members do not pay an entrance fee, the other fans pay a single price of five euros.
