Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic advanced to the quarterfinals of the Australian Open on Monday, beating local Alex de Minaur, in three sets, and continues in the fight to match the record for Grand Slam titles.
The fifth player in the world easily beat the Australian, 24th in the ATP ranking, with partials of 6-2, 6-1 and 6-2, in two hours and six minutes, and prepared a match in the quarterfinals of the first major of the season with the Russian Andrey Rublev.
The record holder for Melbourne Park titles (nine), Djokovic, 35, remains on track to equal the record of 22 Grand Slams held by Spaniard Rafael Nadal, the defending champion who was knocked out in the second round.
