Trust is “total” guarantees Carlos Pinho. The president of Arouca is satisfied with the momentum of the team that faces Sporting in the semifinals of the League Cup, in a match in which the team’s fans will flock to Leiria, the venue for the match. The team lost in the Portuguese Cup against FC Porto (0-4), but is in 6th place in the league after beating Portimonense at home (4-0).
The Arouquenses have already beaten Sporting this season (1-0 for the championship), but Carlos Pinho announces another story. “Whoever wins passes, each game is a game,” he underlines. “It is a team that has confidence, that is having a good championship. That gives morale. It will be a good match, we will do our best”.
In the third consecutive season at the helm of the project, the Arouca coach is praised by the president. “It’s the positive work of someone I enjoy working with. Humble, respected, he knows what he wants ”, he comments on Armando Evangelista, the 49-year-old coach.
Alan Ruiz, a “player”
The departure of André Bukia does not close the doors of the squad to more games. You can’t, explains Carlos Pinho. “My idea is not to let any player leave, because I feel that he is growing. I am happy with his attitude and, for me, they are not leaving. But in football you never know.” You have to stay tuned until February 2 and the window closes.
A year ago, Arouca rescued Alan Ruiz from Argentine soccer. The midfielder overcame mistrust and created a positive image at the new club. The failed stage at Sporting (2016-2018) is part of an already irrelevant past.
“He is worth it in all aspects, he is a player with a value that everyone recognizes. But he is also a very humble person, a midfielder. He talked about the boy’s attitude, that he has great value, being a quality player that he does, but even so he remains very humble. I am very happy with him”, summarizes the president of Arouca.
