Benfica is moving forward with “criminal cases” over incidents at a women’s handball match

Benfica deplored this Sunday the alleged incidents that occurred during the women’s handball team’s trip to São Pedro do Sul and announced that “it will take the necessary sporting and criminal measures with the competent authorities”.

“Considering the unspeakable behavior of the field director of Academia Handebol São Pedro do Sul and the delegate’s arrogance and ineffectiveness at the game, Benfica will exercise due sporting and criminal diligence with the competent authorities regarding these two elements. What happened. You can’t go unpunished!”says Benfica in a statement.

In addition to denouncing the alleged “insults, physical harassment and aggression towards various elements” of the team, Benfica points out that women’s sports leagues should have “organizations that are more and more suited to their level”.

Benfica, leader of the national women’s handball championship, won the meeting with Academia Andebol São Pedro do Sul 36-33 on Saturday.
