Olympian Clarisse Cruz suspended for doping

Portuguese Olympic athlete Clarisse Cruz, 44, has been suspended for four years for doping and will not be allowed to compete again until October 14, 2025, the Portuguese Athletics Federation (FPA) announced on Wednesday.

In a statement, the organization reports the suspension of the athlete, who was present at the 3,000 hurdles event at the Olympic Games Beijing 2008 (34th) and London 2012 (11th), after accusing steroids in an anti-doping test.

The suspension of Clarisse Cruz, a GRECAS athlete who held the national record in the 3,000 meters hurdles, took effect on October 15, 2021 and will expire on October 14, 2025.

The FPA also revealed the disciplinary decision on the trial of long-distance runner Nuno Costa, which dictated a four-year suspension, starting August 12, 2022 and ending August 11, 2026, for cocaine use.
