Benfica SAD with a loss of 13.3 million euros in the first half of 2022/2023

Benfica SAD registered a negative net result of 13.3 million euros in the first half of 2022/23, a reduction of 57.9% compared to the loss presented in the same period, the ‘eagles’ revealed this Tuesday.

“The net result amounts to a negative value of 13.3 million euros, which represents an improvement of 57.9% compared to the same period of the previous year, and it should be noted that the added value obtained from the sale of the rights of the player Enzo Fernández will only have an impact on the result of the 2nd semester, since the transfer took place in January 2023 ”, the entity highlights in the statement sent to the Securities Market Commission (CMVM).

Between July 1 and December 31, 2022, operating income (excluding athletes’ rights transactions) reached 111.6 million euros, which represents a growth of 16.3% compared to 95 .9 million euros presented in the homologous period.

“This value corresponds to the best record achieved by Benfica SAD in a first semester and is mainly related to the sporting performance in the group stage of the Champions League”, stressed the “incarnated” of SAD, specifying that, “in the two semesters, The value of the UEFA prize game does not include the 9.6 million euros guaranteed with access to the round of 16 of the competition, which are only recognized in the 2nd part, when the tie takes place “.

The total income totaled 127.3 million euros, which represents a growth of 24.1% compared to the 102.6 million euros presented in the same period, highlighting Benfica SAD that the income from athlete rights transactions had “little expression” in both semesters, and that this variation was justified by the increase in operating income (excluding athlete rights transactions).

The asset corresponds to a value of 494.6 million euros, which represents a decrease of 7.3% compared to the end of the previous year, in which it amounted to 533.7 million euros, “this variation being mainly explained by the decrease in the balance of the accounts of customers and other debtors and cash and cash equivalents, “he said.

Liabilities have a value of 398.9 million euros, which corresponds to a decrease of 6.1% compared to the end of the previous year, and this reduction of 25.8 million euros is mainly reflected in the headings of other liabilities and from suppliers and other creditors.

The net worth corresponds to a value of 95.7 million euros, which represents a decrease of 12.2% compared to June 30, 2022, justifying this variation by the negative net result of the semester.

“The value of assets as of December 31, 2022 continues to be a positive indicator of the Company’s economic performance in recent years, which has recovered an accumulated value of 119.5 million euros since June 30, 2013,” he highlighted. Benfica S.A.D.
