A goal from Bruma, in the 36th minute, and another – a spectacular bicycle kick – from Banza (79) gave the Braga three points, after the previous round defeat at Guimarães (2-1), putting them two points behind second place (FC Porto) and five points ahead of fourth place (Sporting).
Rio Ave, on the other hand, who left a better image of the midfielder, but was wasteful, marks the step in the second half of the table.
At Sporting de Braga, the absolute debut in the First League of the young Turkish central defender Serdar (20 years old), given the absence of Paulo Oliveira (injured) and Niakaté (suspended), and for the basic role of Bruma.
The first big chance on goal was for Rio Ave, with Boateng trying to ‘hate’ Matheus, but the Braga goalkeeper made a great save (04).
Sporting de Braga responded with a direct free kick from Iuri Medeiros that nearly caught Jhonatan (08) off guard.
The game continued a bit confused, but with a clear sign of more from the home side who came very close to scoring in the 25th minute: a fine pass from Iuri Medeiros to isolate Ricardo Horta, but the Portugal international, in the face of Jhonatan, could not undo the Brazilian goalkeeper.
The ‘arsenalista’ goal came after an excellent attacking combination that started with Abel Ruiz and had an assist from Iuri Medeiros for Bruma’s easy hit to the back of the net (36).
Rio Ave got off to a better start in the second half, creating plenty of danger for Braga’s goal in the 53rd minute, but Tormena quickly prevented Boateng’s heel from going to goal.
Four minutes later Tormena handed the ball over to Miguel Baeza, but he was just in time after he prevented the Spaniard from scoring with a nice swipe.
It was the best phase of the team from Vila do Conde, with Sporting de Braga starting to take over and get close to the opposition goal with more danger, like when an Al Musrati header forced Jhonatan into a tight defense (74 ).
The goal that sealed the result came in the 79th minute: Pizzi pressed on the right, the ball was left in front of the entrance to the small area where Banza, with a spectacular technical gesture, scored the second.
