Hamas said on Sunday, September 7, willing to “immediately” resume negotiations after receiving a new Washington proposal.
The movement ensures that it is “available” for “sitting immediately at the negotiating table to discuss the release of all prisoners in exchange for a clear statement from the end of the war, a complete withdrawal of the Gaza Strip and the formation of an independent Palestinian committee to administer the Gaza Strip, which would begin its functions immediately.”
“A real progress”
Previously, the president of the United States, Donald Trump, announced that he had sent a “last warning” to Hamas for the return of Israeli hostages in the Gaza Strip, ensuring that “the armed movement” of the consequences in case of rejection “warned. The White House gave no more details about the nature of these conditions.
From Israel, the Hostage Families Forum has praised “a real advance.”
“The personal guarantee of the president of the United States is an unprecedented historical step. Such agreement would promote a broader regional regulation, it would provide the release of all hostages, it would allow soldiers and reservists to return home,” the forum said in a press release.
According to the Israeli army, 47 captives remain held in the Gaza Strip, including 27 alleged dead, of a total of 251 people kidnapped during the massacres of October 7.
