Eintracht Frankfurt fans who traveled to southern Italy despite not having a ticket for Wednesday’s match between the German team and Napoli clashed with Neapolitan police after arriving in the city.
Footage broadcast by Italian television shows hundreds of supporters of the German emblem throwing pyrotechnic devices at police, who responded with tear gas.
Chairs, bottles and metal poles were also thrown by black-clad hooded men. A police car was set on fire.

These supporters were banned by the municipality of Naples on Sunday from buying tickets for the match. An initial ban issued on Friday, targeting all people living in Germany, was lifted the following day.
The decision taken on Sunday came after violent clashes that led to the arrest of nine people in the first leg in Frankfurt in which Napoli won 2-0.

Eintracht supporters have been under surveillance by UEFA since the stadium invasion during the team’s run to the Europa League final last season, which ended with a victory over Scottish side Rangers.
Eintracht supporters clashed with Marseille supporters in September, with a supporter of the German team seriously injured after throwing fireworks.
