The Portuguese Nuno Borges entered the top-70 of the world tennis ranking for the first time on Monday, in a day in which the Spanish Carlos Alcaraz saw his rise to the top of the hierarchy confirmed.
One day after winning the challenger in Phoenix, the maiato climbed 12 places and reached 68th place in the ATP rankings, his best position ever.
João Sousa once again dropped out of the top 150 tennis players in the world, for only the second time since October 2021, when he dropped eight places, now ranking 156.
At the top of the ATP ranking is now the Spanish Carlos Alcaraz, who surpassed the Serbian Novak Djokovic after winning the Indian Wells Masters 1,000 on Sunday, with the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas in third place.
In the top-10, Russian Daniil Medvedev, finalist in Indian Wells, and Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime moved up to fifth place.
In the women’s ranking, the Polish Iga Swiatek maintains the lead, followed by the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka and the American Jessica Pegula.
