Moroccan international has a brutal car accident in Belgium

Sofian Kiyine, international soccer player for Morocco who plays for OH Leuven, Belgium, was in a brutal car accident on Thursday night.

The former Lazio player was traveling at more than 200 km/h when he crashed in Flémalle, near the city of Liège, when he lost control of his car on a roundabout. The car overturned and eventually crashed into a gym where children were working out.

Sofian Kiyine, a 25-year-old midfielder, suffered multiple fractures after the accident and was taken to hospital, but his life is not in danger. No other injuries were reported in the accident.

The authorities are investigating the matter, not least because the speed limit in that area is 55 km/h.

However, the Belgian club reacted to the accident. “OH Leuven has been informed that Sofian Kiyine was involved in a serious car accident near Liège last night. He has been taken to the nearest hospital where he is undergoing further examinations. His life is not in danger. Fortunately no other vehicles or anyone was involved in the accident. The club awaits further details on the exact circumstances of the accident. We wish Sofian a speedy recovery,” the note read.
