This Tuesday, Sporting failed to reach the semifinals of the European Handball League, losing the second leg of the quarterfinals against Montpellier, in France, 31-30.
Then in the tie (32-32), at the Pavilhão João Rocha, in Lisbon, the Lisbon team never gave up, against the current leader of the French league, on equal terms with Paris Saint-Germain, but ended up eliminated.
At the FDI Stadium, the ‘lions’, led by Ricardo Costa, were down by two goals at half-time (16-14), but managed to lead the first 30 minutes with a two-goal lead in three moments, with the Gauls prevailing on top from 7-6 on the scoreboard.
The second part began as the first ended, with Montpellier managing the score, given the few differences, and going ahead 29-25, in what was the biggest advantage of the challenge.
Sporting’s Salvador Salvador was the match’s top scorer, with eight shots on target, while Julien Bos scored seven goals for the hosts, the second best tally on the score sheet.
